We are proud to be a leader in high-quality, career-focused tertiary education. With local campuses in Dunedin and Central Otago, and an international campus in Auckland, our students learn the skills they need for a career they'll love.
Quality education that makes a difference
Our learners are at the heart of everything we do. We consistently rank high in student achievement and satisfaction results in Australasia and employers love our graduates because they are work-ready, capable and confident.
Teachers here are innovative, expert and passionate. Many join us from industry with extensive skill sets and connections. With online tools, blended delivery options and pathways from foundation through to postgraduate; time, distance and previous learning are no barriers to gaining the education you want.
Collaborations are at the centre of our philosophy for learning and growth, and our commitment to sustainability plays a major role in everything we do, influencing both day-to-day operation and our future decision-making. Learning is extended into the field of applied research, contributing to professional and community networks nationally and internationally.
We are a values-led organisation, priding ourselves on being a great place to study and work. With almost 800 employees, boasting a talented pool of academic, teaching and professional staff. We are very proud of the work we do and our extended ‘OP’ whānau.
What we do
we provide courses and qualifications to meet local and regional training and education needs
we ensure that what teach is of national and international relevance
we understand that not all learners can come to a campus, so provide flexible ways to study including by distance, online and on-the-job
we provide opportunities for staff and learners to find solutions for our local communities and industries alike

Moving into 2023, Otago Polytechnic will operate under Te Pūkenga, which means we're able to have the national and regional reach to let our learners to move between workplaces, other educational offerings, and locations as their needs change.
However, even operating under Te Pūkenga, one thing will always remain the same - our quality education, hands-on learning, and community support.
