Discover Manukau and Auckland
Auckland is regularly ranked one of the world’s most liveable cities. Its beautiful beaches, bush-clad ranges and busy urban centres make it a world-class city.
With just under 1.5 million people, Auckland is the powerhouse of New Zealand’s economy with progressive business sectors, high-tech industry and a competitive, skilled workforce. It is also New Zealand’s most multicultural city with 66% European/Pakeha, 19% Asian and 25% Maori and Pacific Island people.
Auckland enjoys a temperate climate. Summers are dry and warm with daytime temperatures averaging 19–25ºC, while winter temperatures are a little cooler, averaging between 12–18ºC.
Within Auckland, Manukau’s unique spirit is created from a vibrant mix of urban, rural, industrial and coastal influences. Much of the region is still green farmland, but at the same time it’s a thriving industrial and commercial hub. Its urban areas reflect an active multicultural community, including the world’s largest Polynesian population, where you can see the latest art, theatre and music. Just up the road is New Zealand’s largest shopping centre at Sylvia Park.
For those who love the outdoors, Manukau has a 320-kilometre coastline, an array of stunning regional parks nearby and the Auckland Botanic Gardens. Dotted throughout the region are playgrounds, marine facilities, sports fields and a vineyard or two.
