Sheridan's Honours Bachelor of Film and Television (BFTV) degree program has helped countless students launch their journeys into the world of motion pictures, broadcast and multimedia. This degree opens doors to a wide range of careers including director, editor, screenwriter and cinematographer.

Specialize in the area of film and TV that matches your career goals
In the first two years of this program, you'll get a taste of everything the industry has to offer. You'll choose from electives in directing, producing, writing and editing to find your talents and passion. Then, in your final semesters, you'll specialize in writing, camera and lighting, directing, editing, sound, producing media and cinema studies, digital production design, or visual effects.

Create your own short film or television production
Towards the end of the program, you'll work with a team to achieve a portfolio film. In this exciting capstone project, you'll partner with peers in different specializations to pitch, seek funding, write and produce a short film or television production. By following the same process as filmmakers in the industry, you'll be well-prepared for your career.

When you graduate, you'll know how to use the technology, write the scripts and produce media content while understanding how it's funded and applied to multiple platforms.

Get the practical, hands-on experience you need to succeed
Learn how to use the latest equipment and software including ARRI camera and lights and Avid Media Composer.
Apply what you learn in the classroom to a 14-week work placement (between Semesters 6 and 7)
Create a portfolio project with a team of peers.
Have the opportunity to build relationships with industry mentors.
Sheridan film and TV students consistently win awards
In the past 10 years, Sheridan film students have:

been nominated for the Canadian Society of Cinematographer’s Student Cinematography Award 13 times (three times more than any other film school in Canada).
won the Canadian Cinema Editor’s Student Award of Merit 19 times (this award has multiple winners each year). This is the same as the combined total of the next closest three schools.
