Connect your passion and ideas with theory and skills in our small business and entrepreneurship major.
You’ll start with business basics – accounting, communications and law. Then, focus on honing vital entrepreneurial skills such as:
• salesmanship
• leadership and supervision
• small business management
Whatever your goal, you’ll build knowledge and decision-making skills to be team leader. That could be in your own business, in another small business or in a corporate setting.
Practice what you’ve learned in an optional 16-week work placements between first and second year. It’s also an opportunity to network and make connections.
This diploma could also be the start of a slightly longer education path. Stay another year at Lakeland to:
• add another major
• earn a Bachelor of Management degree.
Bachelor of Commerce is an option 2 years post-diploma.
When you hone your entrepreneurial skills you are in a better position to start your own business or work within an established business.
You may use your knowledge to work at:
• banks and financial institutions
• government
• non-profit and non-government organizations
