Compassion. It's often a defining quality for students interested in the field of nuclear medicine technology. Most commonly employed by hospitals and imaging clinics to use a scanner to create images of various areas of a patient's body, a nuclear medicine technologist can spend as much time with patients as their doctors—and therefore have as much of an opportunity to reassure and calm patients who are likely undergoing a stressful period in their lives.
Students who take a three-year program at MTSU coupled with 12 months in a nuclear medicine technology program approved by the national accrediting agency and by MTSU and who completes all graduation requirements of the University will receive a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Science from MTSU's Department of Chemistry
The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 19 percent growth in the field of nuclear medicine technology during the decade of 2010–2020.
